2024 Presenter Information

Poster Sessions

TIME

Prepare a 3-minute “poster summary” to share with people who visit your poster. Be prepared to answer questions.

PRESENTATION LOCATION

Poster sessions will be held in the Midtown Ballroom of the Exhibition Hall from 1:15 – 3:30 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Presenters will be provided a poster board to attach their poster. Each poster board will have an “A” session poster and a “B” session poster, which means that student presenters will share a poster board, but only one poster on the board will be actively presented during a session. Poster presenters should set up their posters by 11:45 am for viewing.

RESOURCES TO HELP YOU PREPARE YOUR POSTER PRESENTATION

UROP has compiled resources to help students prepare effective poster presentations. Click the website link below to see these resources:

POSTER SPECIFICATIONS

Posters must be 36 inches wide by 48 inches tall. This is portait orientation. Your poster needs to have these dimensions to fit on the poster board. Below are some options to print your poster. UROP cannot print posters for Symposium presenters.

Oral Sessions

There will be a moderator in each room to introduce each presenter and moderate questions. Moderators will have time warning signs to ensure presenters leave time for questions.

TIME

10-minute in-person presentation and 2-3 minutes for questions.

PRESENTATION FORMAT

Oral presentations will be held in the small meeting rooms in the Exhibition Hall from 10 – 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Students giving oral presentations must email a PowerPoint file to urop@gatech.edu by noon on Friday, April 12, 2024. The filename must be formatted as LEADPRESENTERNAME_TITLEFIRST3WORDS. For example, “GeorgiaBurdell_InvestigatingBuzzPollination”. If students are co-presenting as a team, the filename should include only the name of the lead presenter (this is the student who submitted the abstract).

When preparing your oral presentation, keep in mind that your audience will be from across campus. Be sure to “pitch” your presentation to the general public rather than a group of specialists. When considering how many slides to include, allocate about 1-2 minutes per slide, which is 5-10 slides for a 10-minute presentation.
